Dr. Matthew Whipple

Dr. Whipple is a native of Warren, Pennsylvania. He attended The Pennsylvania State University where he earned his BS in Biology with a focus on neuroscience. Dr. Whipple attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and upon graduation was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society.

Dr. Whipple completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Veterans Affairs of Western New York hospital in Buffalo, NY. Before relocating to Cortland, Dr. Whipple was in private practice in East Aurora, NY. He has taken over 500 hours of continuing education, including extensive dental implant training through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry MaxiCourse.

Dr. Whipple also holds certifications in Conscious Sedation and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Whipple’s favorite aspect of dentistry is the blending of the arts and sciences, and he enjoys using these skills to improve the lives of his patients. He practices all aspects of general dentistry including complex dental rehabilitation, root canals, extractions, dental implant placement, and restoration. He also continues to be a guest lecturer for the current residents of the Veterans Affairs of Western New York hospital.

When he is not working, Dr. Whipple can be found enjoying the wonderful outdoor activities of Central New York with his wife, three children, and their chocolate lab Ritter. He enjoys fly-fishing, skiing, and hiking.

Our Staff

Kathleen, Hygienist

A graduate of Cortland High School, Kathleen received her AAS in Dental Hygiene from Broome Community College in 1994. She has been working in our practice since September 1994. She thoroughly enjoys the patients and their families who frequent the practice. Kathleen strives to achieve patient comfort and trust. Kathleen has over 35 years of dental experience including dental assisting for general and orthodontic dentistry. Kathleen has been a faithful volunteer for the Cortland Community SPCA since September 2006.

Tiffany, Hygienist

Tiffany received her AAS in Dental Hygiene from Monroe Community College (MCC). While attending MCC, she received her certification for administration of anesthetic and nitrous oxide from Onondaga Community College in 2003 and her Bachelors of Technology from SUNY Canton in 2013.

She is affiliated with the following national, state and local professional organizations: American Dental Hygiene Association, New York Dental Hygienists’ Association and Central Region Dental Hygiene Association and the Community Foundation to Support Education. She has held multiple leadership positions from Secretary, Treasurer, to Vice President and President.

Tiffany has been working for the practice since October 2004 and enjoys being part of the office family. She prides herself on patient education and her knowledge of product information.

Outside of dental hygiene, she enjoys being outside and spending time with her family.

Cynthia, Hygienist

Cynthia graduated from Broome Community College in 2015 with her AAS in Dental Hygiene. She also has an Associate’s Degree from Tompkins Cortland Community College in Liberal Arts-Business Focus from 2012.

Cynthia worked for years as a Pediatric Dental Hygienist and Orthodontic Hygienist in Fayetteville, NY before joining our practice full time.

Cynthia, her husband and three daughters currently reside in Cortland, NY.

Jamie, Dental Assistant

Jamie is a resident of Cortland NY along with her fur child Miles. Jamie enjoys volleyball and softball in her spare time as well as spending time with family and friends. Jamie has been a dental assistant for 12 years and has been Dr. Whipple’s assistant for five of those. She takes pride in assisting Dr. Whipple to help our patients feel great about their smiles.

Melanie, Front Desk Coordinator

Melanie joined the front desk in June of 2016, after being a loyal patient of Seven Valley Dental for many years. She was born in Schenectady, NY and was raised in Herkimer with her older sister. She graduated from Herkimer High School and then moved to Cortland to attend Tompkins Cortland Community College to study basic computer information. She worked for eight years as a salesperson at RH Osborne’s World of Floor Coverings. She has been married for 20 years and has two sons who she devotes as much time to as possible. She is a big-time animal lover and enjoys her pups and spending time with them. Melanie greets all of our patients with her calm, friendly, and inviting demeanor.

Tanya, Front Desk Coordinator

Tanya joined the front desk team in January 2021. She has been working in the medical field for several years and enjoys interacting with our patients. She currently resides in Cortland with her husband Todd and has four adult children. In her free time, she loves being outdoors, hiking, running, and spending time on the water.

Alison, Front Desk Coordinator

Alison joined the Seven Valley Dental team in July of 2021. She is a resident of Cincinnatus, NY where she resided with her husband and two daughters. Alison has worked in the medical field for over 10 years. She enjoys spending her free time with family, being outdoors, traveling, and relaxing at home.
