Dr. Matthew Whipple
Dr. Whipple is a native of Warren, Pennsylvania. He attended The Pennsylvania State University where he earned his BS in Biology with a focus on neuroscience. Dr. Whipple attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and upon graduation was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society.
Dr. Whipple completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Veterans Affairs of Western New York hospital in Buffalo, NY. Before relocating to Cortland, Dr. Whipple was in private practice in East Aurora, NY. He has taken over 500 hours of continuing education, including extensive dental implant training through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry MaxiCourse.
Dr. Whipple also holds certifications in Conscious Sedation and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Whipple’s favorite aspect of dentistry is the blending of the arts and sciences, and he enjoys using these skills to improve the lives of his patients. He practices all aspects of general dentistry including complex dental rehabilitation, root canals, extractions, dental implant placement, and restoration. He also continues to be a guest lecturer for the current residents of the Veterans Affairs of Western New York hospital.
When he is not working, Dr. Whipple can be found enjoying the wonderful outdoor activities of Central New York with his wife, two children, and their chocolate lab Ritter. He enjoys fly-fishing, skiing, and hiking.
A graduate of Cortland High School, Kathleen received her AAS in Dental Hygiene from Broome Community College in 1994. She has been working in our practice since September 1994. She thoroughly enjoys the patients and their families who frequent the practice. Kathleen strives to achieve patient comfort and trust. Kathleen has over 35 years of dental experience including dental assisting for general and orthodontic dentistry. Kathleen has been a faithful volunteer for the Cortland Community SPCA since September 2006.
Tiffany received her AAS in Dental Hygiene from Monroe Community College (MCC). While attending MCC, she was active in the Student Association of Dental Hygiene, and served as its President for two years (2001-2002). She received her certification for administration of anesthetic and nitrous oxide from Onondaga Community College in 2003.
Besides being currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program at SUNY Canton, she still finds the time to be actively involved in her community. She is affiliated with the following national and local professional organizations: American Dental Hygiene Association, CNY Dental Hygiene Association ( Secretary), NY HY PAC and NYS Oral Health Coalition, and the Community Foundation to Support Education.
Tiffany has been working for the practice since October 2004 and enjoys being part of the office family. She prides herself on patient education and her knowledge of product information.
Samantha graduated from Broome Community College in 2012 with her AAS in Dental Hygiene. She also has an Associate’s Degree from Tompkins Cortland Community College in general studies, where she took several child development, child psychology, and child education classes, making her extremely patient and comforting to our younger patients.
Samantha also works at an office in Cazenovia, NY as a hygienist, and has been there for five years. She is very excited to be joining our team as well and working for Tiffany on Mondays.
Sam and her husband Mike have three boys, ages 14, 12 and almost 2. In her free time she enjoys running, snowboarding, scrapbooking and watching her two older boys play many sports. Sam has always had a passion for dental hygiene and would brush her childhood friend’s teeth when they were over for playdates.
Duana, Dental Assistant
Duana joined our office in 2017. She has been a lifelong resident of Marathon, NY. She has an extensive medical, dental, and surgical background. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors and time with her family. In the office, she will be found assisting the doctor, keeping patients at ease while in the office and filling in at the front desk when needed.
Jamie, Dental Assistant
Jamie is the newest member of our team. She has been a dental assistant for eight years. She is a resident of Cortland, NY with her husband, Joe. In her free time, Jamie enjoys playing volleyball and softball.
Beatrice, Office Manager
Beatrice joined our front desk staff in August 2015. Like many of our patients, she is a lifelong resident of Cincinnatus, NY. One of Beatrice’s many strong skills is that she has a wide range of experience from the insurance industry to the legal industry. She has found that the knowledge she has gained in these areas has aided in her role at the front desk. She is very appreciative to have the opportunity to learn in the dental environment with Seven Valley Dental. Fun Fact: Beatrice and hygienist, Tiffany, are cousins! When Beatrice is not working, she enjoys walking, gardening, and watching her daughter, Bayley, play soccer.
Melanie, Front Desk Coordinator
Melanie joined the front desk in June of 2016, after being a loyal patient of Seven Valley Dental for many years. She was born in Schenectady, NY and was raised in Herkimer with her older sister. She graduated from Herkimer High School and then moved to Cortland to attend Tompkins Cortland Community College to study basic computer information. She worked for eight years as a salesperson at RH Osborne’s World of Floor Coverings, when she decided to cut back to part-time jobs so she could be at home to enjoy more time with her two growing, active boys. Melanie greets all of our patients with her calm, friendly, and inviting demeanor.
Charity, Front Desk Coordinator
Charity is a lifelong resident of McGraw, NY. In her early twenties she moved up north to Liverpool, NY. That is where Charity started her life with her then boyfriend, now husband Joe. They lived in the area for 9 years. Charity was a stay at home mom and ran a day care out of there home. They have 2 young active daughters. They moved back to the area a couple of years ago and she decided to get back into the work force. In their spare time they love playing sports, riding four wheelers, going to different lakes and hiking. Charity is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoys watching her family play soccer!
